I agree. It looks quite solid and substantial in person and has really helped to animate this corner. Streetlife was pretty lacklustre before other than the occasional folding table book sale. This is now arguably the busiest corner in the Beach.

Workers are presently pouring the floor for the east side of the current floor. They seem to be keeping to the 6 business days (not calendar days) schedule for completing each floor.
I have a hazy recollection of this - I was a kid then. Perhaps to some it wasn't a success at that time, but then again we live in different times now with a much greater population living downtown. I'm also sure we could do better than some cheap parks and rec picnic benches scattered around.
