Since UrbanToronto’s last update in June, 2025, the 50-storey purpose-built rental apartment building at 170 Roehampton has advanced well above grade: its podium is formed, the tower has reached approximately 12 storeys, and exterior cladding is underway. Designed by Sweeny &Co Architects Inc for Capital Developments and Metropia, the project occupies the northwest corner of Roehampton and Redpath avenues in Toronto's Midtown area, near both Eglinton and Mount Pleasant stations on Yonge Line 1 and Eglinton Line 5.
In February, 2026, the reinforced concrete structure stands two storeys, with orange tarps enclosing the second floor and shoring poles supporting the curing slab. With the crane rising through the deck, rebar mats have been prepared for the third level concrete pour. Formwork, reinforcement, equipment, and timber are staged along Roehampton Avenue.
By April, 2026, the podium reached four storeys, with decking, sideforms, and safety rails outlining the fifth-floor slab. Cantilevered slabs project along the south and east elevations, while a thicker section marks the transfer slab, a transitional support that takes loads from walls above and moves them to the ground via walls that surround the double-height lobby and mezzanine below. Shoring poles fill the open floors behind a concrete wall at the southeast corner, while hoarding, scaffold towers, waste bins, and a compact excavator occupy the Roehampton frontage.
In June, 2026, the first sections of the west elevation’s envelope were applied, pairing warm-toned aluminum panels with narrow, dark-grey glazed bays, black mullions, and louvres. Blue weatherproofing remains exposed at unfinished sections. A fourth-floor parapet wraps the west and south elevations as the massing steps inward at the southwest corner, while formwork and construction platforms project above.
From Redpath Avenue, the eight-storey structure shows formwork for the next slab and reinforcement projecting toward the ninth floor. A construction hoist climbs the east elevation near the southeast corner. The parking-garage entrance is formed at the north end, while the fourth-floor parapet defines the edge of a future outdoor amenity terrace.
This month, 170 Roehampton stands approximately 12 storeys, with forming underway for the 13th-floor slab as work is well into the repeating cycle of a new tower floor, typically one added per week. Dark-grey aluminum panels and glazing sections enclose the first two floors of the south elevation below the deeper third-floor slab. Levels four through six feature warm beige-white panels, dark window wall, black mullions, and louvres. At the southeast corner, curved forms and working platforms between levels eight and ten prepare balcony slabs that will wrap the south and east elevations.
From across Redpath, three clad storeys of the east elevation are visible beside the hoist, with warm-toned panels and glazing installed below blue weatherproofing at the seventh-floor slab edge. Above, cantilevered platforms frame the rounded southeast balconies. The unfinished podium remains open behind scaffolding, hoarding, and overhead protection.
Upon completion, 170 Roehampton will rise 160.85m and contain 599 rental apartments, including 15 rental-replacement units from the previous building onsite.
