Construction on an 18-storey purpose-built student rental building at 307 Sherbourne Street has advanced since work began in July, 2024, moving from excavation and shoring through the installation of the crane. Designed by Superkül for Forum Asset Management, the building on the southeast corner of Sherbourne and Gerrard in Toronto’s Cabbagetown is now rising well above grade.

Looking southwest across the excavation, this June, 2025 view shows the crane positioned near the site's northwest corner. Installed in April, 2025, it rises above the project’s single underground parking level. The perimeter is lined with soldier piles and timber lagging, braced by tiebacks along the south side. Within the footprint, a series of concrete columns rises from the slab, alongside formwork. Materials such as rebar are staged within the site.

By October, 2025, the southeast corner had reached six storeys, with formwork visible for the seventh level up above. Edge protection, safety railings, and cantilevered working platforms signal ongoing deck forming. The south elevation, on the left, shows the double-height garage and loading bay at grade, and the pronounced step-back above the fourth floor, where the red brick podium will transition to the white brick tower.

Viewed from across the Sherbourne and Gerrard intersection, the north elevation (left) shows the building rising through its mid-podium floors. The double-height zone closest to the corner is where curtain wall will announce the building's entrance. To the right, the west elevation extneds outward where third and fourth floor balconies will be, with slab decking laid out for the fifth, sixth, and seventh-floor concrete pours. Yellow shoring posts support still-curing concrete.

Once finished, 307 Sherbourne will reach 61.5m, and contain 223 rental units tailored to students attending local colleges and universities.
