Cielo Condos has hit the halfway mark on its ascent to 34 storeys, continuing its climb behind the preserved stone walls of Bloor Street United Church. Designed by KPMB Architects for Collecdev-Markee Developments with ERA Architects overseeing heritage conservation, the tower is redefining the northwest corner of Bloor and Huron streets in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood. Since UrbanToronto’s last update in October, 2025, the tower has pushed well beyond the podium and into the first dozen residential levels.
Earlier this month, below, a northeastwards view across Bloor Street to Cielo Condos has the tower at 16 storeys, with forms and slab decking positioned for the 17th level. The stepped four-storey podium volume that projects north toward Bloor is clearly defined, transitioning to the taller fifth-floor level above. Temporary red fencing lines each completed floor-plate, with the tower displaying two volumes and a recessed section in between. In the foreground, the preserved stone walls of Bloor Street United Church remain braced by a steel retention scaffold at the centre of the facade.
Looking northwest, the east elevation shows the tower’s stepped cantilever taking shape, with the large cantilever extending outward toward Huron Street from the seventh. The luffing-jib tower crane stands centred above the tower, alongside a red concrete boom pump set toward the east end. In the foreground, the church facade remains secured by a full-height steel retention scaffold along Huron Street.
Viewed from Madison Avenue, the tower’s west elevation rises behind the advancing steel structure of the Keskus Estonian Cultural Centre. The Cielo Condos construction hoist climbs to the 12th floor, matching the mechanical risers that have been extended to the same height as part of ongoing servicing work. Crews continue installing mechanical piping through the fourth and mezzanine levels of the podium, while the meeting room structure and its interface with the preserved church facade have been completed pending an engineering review.
Looking south toward Downtown Toronto from atop the Baldwin steps on Spadina Road, Cielo Condos now asserts itself in the skyline. Its concrete frame, seen here rising in front of the CN Tower, has formwork marking the uppermost level.
Later this month, looking north from Bloor Street West, the tower has reached 17 storeys, with decking and forms positioned for the 18th-floor slab. Along the Bloor frontage, the roof of the podium hosts staged formwork panels, awaiting their next use.
Most recently, tower has advanced to the 19th floor, with the slab for that level poured late last week and the corresponding walls and columns completed up to the same height. Crews have begun setting rebar and preparing wall and column pours from the 19th to the 20th floor, with the 20th-floor slab targeted for a pour today. Meanwhile, the start of precast exterior panel installation is expected any day now.
Once complete, Cielo Condos will stand 130.35m and deliver 349 residential suites to the Annex neighbourhood.
