May Sees Improved Affordability as GTA Listings Rise and Sales Decline
The Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB) reported 6,244 home sales in May 2025, a 13.3% year-over-year decline, while new listings rose 14% to 21,819. Increased supply gave buyers more options and leverage, contributing to improved affordability across the region compared to last year. Seasonally adjusted data showed a second consecutive monthly increase in sales, hinting at a gradual shift in market conditions.
Balmoral Recreation Centre Reopens Following $25M Revitalization
The City of Brampton has completed the revitalization and expansion of the Balmoral Recreation Centre, marking a milestone in its Parks and Recreation Master Plan. The facility has doubled in size to 35,000ft² and now includes a FIBA-sized gym, upgraded aquatic features, a new splash pad, and flexible community spaces. A public reopening event is planned for June 14, with drop-in and registered programs resuming this summer.
Demolition on Main Street North Signals Start of Downtown Brampton Revitalization
The City of Brampton is set to begin demolition at 30 to 60 Main Street North, clearing the way for the temporary expansion of Garden Square and future phases of its downtown transformation. Supported by a $23.8 million investment, the work is part of the broader Integrated Downtown Plan, which includes streetscape upgrades, new public spaces, and infrastructure improvements.
Ontario Issues RFP for First Phase of Hamilton LRT Civil Works
The Province of Ontario has released a Request for Proposals for the initial civil and utility works of the 14km Hamilton Light Rail Transit (LRT) line. Four shortlisted teams will compete to deliver roadwork, utility relocations, and traffic signal upgrades along the corridor, which will eventually serve 17 stops between McMaster University and Eastgate Square. Backed by up to $3.4 billion in joint provincial and federal funding, the project is expected to connect 50,000 daily riders.
