The Wallace-Emerson Community Centre in Toronto's West End is not long for this world. Not that the community near Dufferin and Dupont streets will go without; in fact a brand-new, state-of-the-art, larger community centre is under construction right now, at the base of the towers seen rising in the background. In this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor ryanbruins17, we're looking down the entranceway to the unique community centre, which won a Governor General's Medal in Architecture in 1982 for its Post-Modern design. Behind it, steam catches the morning light and obscures the first two towers of the Galleria on the Park development ...bringing the population growth here that has triggered the building of the expanded new community centre.
