With our focus on new development, a diet of UrbanToronto photography would make it easy to forget that our arterials still have plenty of low-rise, low-density reminders of our suburban past. Few of our aging commercial strip buildings though are as handsome as this car wash at 2388 Danforth Avenue in the city's East End. This property, like so many others along major transit routes, is slated for redevelopment in the near future, but captured here by UrbanToronto Forum contributor flonicky, its night lighting continues ro exude the particular warmth of a bygone mid-century Modernism.
