If you're a ground dweller, Toronto's location on Lake Ontario is, more often than not, a piece of knowledge stored in your brain rather than it is a lived experience, as the lake is hidden from so much of the city. Live up high though, and the lake dominates many views… and of course when you find yourself aloft in a plane, like in this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor mburrrrr, where we look southeast over Downtown towards the CN Tower, the Harbour, the Islands, the Spit, and the Lake.
