Working through the rainy season in Toronto and the GTHA, the development industry had another busy month with plenty of construction progress to follow, while a number of significant new proposals came to light in April. At the same time, the City's roster of active transit infrastructure projects were as prominent as ever, continuing to satisfy the interests of transit enthusiasts as we anticipate new ways to get around. Here is the latest roundup of the hottest news stories, Database files, and Forum threads on UrbanToronto from the month of April.

Our Top 10 Most Read News Stories:

Our list of the top performing news stories in April begins at number 11, with a report covering a transit-oriented development that looks towards the future of Downtown Etobicoke. With community amenities like expanded the Kipling Transit Hub and the planned Etobicoke Civic Centre, Kipling Station Condos will be a part of the area's urbanization.

11. CentreCourt Investing in Downtown Etobicoke with 50-Storey Kipling Station Condos

Moving into the Top 10 proper, the Ford Government's planned relocation of the Ontario Science Centre has been one of the most inflammatory stories of the year so far, but that news was bested on our front page by a number of exciting proposals seeking big density. At the top of the list, it was the Quebec City to Toronto high frequency rail news that earned the most clicks, while our report covering the completion of the Davenport Diamond grade separation came in at a close second.

Our Top 10 Most Searched Database Files:

Looking at our most searched Database files from the last month, the list begins at number 14, with a project that is proving more every month that the urbanization of the Port Lands is not an impossible task. The remainder of the year is shaping up to be an exciting stretch for the project as construction continues.

14. Lower Don Lands Redevelopment

Down in the Top 10 list, the latter half is composed of a set of projects that are mostly new to the exclusive list. The proposed 77-storey Niagara 77 Condos has been a hot topic of conversation since gaining approval from the City of Niagara Falls, but the viability of such a large building in that city has yet to be proven. Meanwhile, the top half of the list features the usual crop of your favourites, led by The One, which made a splash this month with the reveal of its champagne-tinted cladding.

Our Top 10 Busiest Threads:

Finally, our list of April's busiest Forum threads begins at number 23, with the highest ranking project that doesn't fall count as a building or transportation facility: Love Park. With construction work approaching completion, the Downtown park project has proven to have a knack for plucking the heart strings of our forum members.

23. Love Park

As for the Top 10 list, the month of April delivered a uniquely tidy split, with towers earning spots one through five, and transit projects earning spots six through 10.
