The original 1928-built structure was used as an office, manufacturing facility, and warehouse to supply Loblaw's grocery stores, but its use had changed of late and the structure had become unstable over the years. In the early 2010s, Loblaws decided to renew the structure and open a grocery store and other shops to serve the growing residential population around Bathurst and Lake Shore in Downtown Toronto. Now, the expanded and restored complex seen in this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor Red Mars also boasts two condo towers, a number of other stores along with the Loblaws, and new offices above.
