Someone has made an art installation out of a long-abandoned chair in a vacant lot in The Junction neighbourhood of Toronto's West End. In this image by UrbanToronto Forum contributor AlbertC, the chair has a face that wishes for happier times, even if it's now being kept company by a lamp, pets, and a plant.

The former, 1920s-built Peacock Hotel burned down here in 2019, and was demolished in 2020. Captured by UrbanToronto Forum contributor Ottawan, the chair has been at the site since at least October, 2021.

Here's how the building looked prior to the fire. No plans for redevelopment of the site have been submitted to the City yet. it's rare for a property to remain undeveloped for long in this City, especially in rapidly gentrifying areas on main roads; this one may be caught up in red tape following the conflagration in which the old hotel met its demise.
