Minto Communities GTA accepted eight awards at last month's Durham Region Home Builders Association (DRHBA) 2022 Awards of Excellence for the 90-acre master-planned community it is building in Oshawa, named The Heights of Harmony

Launched in June of 2020, The Heights of Harmony introduced Net Zero upgrades on select detached homes to the development in the Kedron neighbourhood of Oshawa. The upgrades can reduce a home's emissions by up to 85%, and all of the homes in the community have roofs designed to allow easy installation of solar panels in the future.

Debuting at this Minto site was a new Modern Farmhouse style home, into the architectural mix of traditional and contemporary townhomes and detached homes designed by RN Design, and featuring lush landscape design by NAK Design Strategies

Minto's Heights of Harmony project is slated for completion in 2023. A second phase the community is slated to launch this fall, as Minto prepares to expand their presence in the Durham Region.

“We are especially proud of our award wins in the design categories as we are always striving to craft homes that will support the needs of diverse residents," said Mike LaPlante, Vice President of Land Development, Minto Communities GTA. "These awards are a fantastic milestone as we continue to conceptualize early plans for our upcoming projects in Brooklin and Courtice."

Minto announced the acquisition of four new GTA sites this past February, with two located in the Brooklin and Courtice communities of the Durham Region. The Brooklin site is located at the northwest corner of Columbus Road and Baldwin Street North in Whitby, and spans 27 acres. Plans for the site include 190 residences in a mix of detached homes, traditional townhomes, and rear-lane townhomes.

The Courtice site is located in Clarington, and will span 100 acres, with plans to follow a similar residence mix as that of the Brooklin community. Both are still in early conceptual stages, and Minto says that there will be an emphasis on making each community pedestrian-friendly and walkable, with vast parks and lush green spaces, while keeping sustainability top of mind.
