Plaza is in the process of constructing the Theatre District Residence and RIU Plaza Hotel complex to the southwest corner of Adelaide and Widmer streets in Downtown Toronto. The hotel and condo towers now stand four- and five-storeys above their podiums, and have begun to see some brick paneling applied to their lower levels.

Upon our last update in December, the BDP Quadrangle-designed buildings had just reached 9 and 10 storeys above grade, and were beginning to wrap up the structure construction of their podium levels. Now, both towers are topped with cranes while fly forms cover their fourth and fifth levels.

At the base of the two buildings, the project will feature the preserved front sections of a row of Victorian townhomes on Widmer Street, which will eventually be filled with retail when the project is completed. To complement the Victorian townhomes, the podium levels are being clad with two colours of brick paneling; multiple tones of red at street level, and an orange tone from the fifth storey up.

Panels of window wall cladding were also been spotted on site recently, and shortly thereafter the first installation was spotted on the third floor.

Upon completion, the 49-storey south tower will be home exclusively to 424 condominium suites, while the 48-storey north tower — marketed as Encore at Theatre District — will feature 131 condo suites on its 25 upper floors, with the 353-room RIU Plaza Hotel taking up the first 23 floors. Despite having a different number of levels, both towers will eventually reach identical heights, both measuring 156 metres tall.
