Along the Danforth, just around the corner from Main Street subway station, Marlin Spring Developments is bringing The Dawes – 24- and 38-storey condominium towers rising from a shared podium – inclusive of a unique heritage twist. While the new mixed-use development will host office and retail spaces in its podium, it will also boast a renovated 1906-built grain elevator and mill that houses a new daycare facility.
The IBI Group-designed development will have 631 residential condo units within its two towers. Suites will feature 9 ft ceilings and laminate flooring.
Upon entering the building at ground-level, residents will be welcomed into a U31-designed lobby which will offer 24 hour concierge service next to a mail and parcel room. At hand will also be a pet wash station, while just outside the main entrance there will be a pet-friendly area for residents to take their pets out for a break.
A total of over 30,000 ft² of amenities will reach across the whole development, and will include a social lounge for those who want to gather with others, a library lounge for those who are looking for some peace and quiet, and a co-working area and meeting room for those with work to accomplish. Other areas to relax and have fun will include a games room, art studio, a wellness centre with exercise, cardio and weight training areas, as well as a two-storey fitness studio, dedicated kids' area, and an outdoor terrace that will feature lounge seating, barbecue stations, and dining areas.
Unique to The Dawes is its heritage, 3-storey, 1906-built grain elevator and mill at 10 Dawes Road, a renovation of which will incorporate it into the overall development and turn it into a brand new daycare facility just steps from the front doors.
While having Main Street subway station only a block away from The Dawes puts the whole city within easy reach, it will be even closer to a new east entrance to Danforth GO station, putting the downtown core just a short train ride away.
