About seven kilometres north of Toronto, Richmond Hill's David Dunlap Observatory was established in 1935 for the University of Toronto. Owing to growing light pollution, the site was sold off in 2009 to the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada, before ownership landed with the City of Richmond Hill in 2016. In this view from Forum contributor DarkSideDenizen, the facility's administration building and telescope are visible.
