Tridel and Hines’ Bayside community continues to grown in Toronto's East Bayfront area with Aquabella. Boasting a standout design by Danish architects 3XN working with Toronto-based Kirkor, Aquabella rises 14 storeys in a uniquely stepped form. The building has been structurally complete since last year, while the ongoing installation of cladding is bringing the project closer to the look presented in marketing renderings.

Construction began just over three years ago, in February, 2018, with shoring and excavation. With the pit bottomed out, a crane was installed by August, 2018. Forming was progressing for footing caps, vertical columns and walls of the four-level underground parking garage in November, 2018. By Spring, 2019, forming had reached grade. Forming of Aquabella's uppermost floors would continue for over a year unitl the building topped out last July at a height of 50.9 metres.

The first exterior finishes also began to be applied last year. While the main building envelope is a window wall system with vision glass and mechanical louvers, other finishes include glass fibre-reinforced concrete (GFRC) panels, curtainwall cladding consisting of glazing and GFRC, and most recently, the addition of balcony glazing that has helped bring all of these finishes together in a sleek enclosure.

Aquabella will bring 173 new homes to the area upon completion. The building will is being followed up by another 3XN-designed building to the immediate east, Aqualuna at Bayside, for which excavation is now mostly complete.
