The early stages of construction are moving along for a new condominium complex at Bathurst Street and Beverley Glen Boulevard in Thornhill. Named in a nod to its community, The Thornhill from The Daniels Corporation and Baif Developments is bringing a four-building, Kirkor Architects-designed complex to the growing neighbourhood north of Promenade Mall.

The first signs of activity were spotted in August, with drilling rigs working around the site perimeter to form both caisson wall and pile+lagging shoring systems. Excavation has followed, now having progressed a few metres below street level, beginning to etch out space for the complex's foundations and underground levels.

Though suites have only been released for sale in the complex's 25-storey eponymous first phase and 15-storey second phase The Beverley, excavation now extends across the entire community site, including the footprint for the future 6 and 12-storey buildings planned at the west end of the site.

As excavation reveals the shoring walls, tieback drilling has begun across the site. These horizontally-drilled steel anchors are used to secure the shoring walls against the lateral pressure of the surrounding soil. Additional rows of tiebacks will follow as the pit extends deeper down.

Once complete the first phase will introduce 313 condominium units to the block, to be followed by even more density to the south and west.
