Less than four years from now, the new Hurontario LRT will connect a growing cluster of density forming along Mississauga's primary north-south thoroughfare. The coming transit upgrade, with work now underway, is fuelling a surge of verticality along the street through a handful of projects currently under construction and several more in the pipeline. Far along in its construction and pushing for a 2021 completion date, Plaza's Mississauga Square is among the new projects whose residents will benefit from the Hurontario LRT, with its location at Hurontario and Nahani Way steps north of the line's Eglinton stop.

Construction of the complex began in mid-2018, and in the two and a half years since, the Turner Fleischer Architects-designed condominium and townhome development has reached its full 33-storey height above a podium of two-storey townhomes. We last checked in on construction in August when the tower was closing in on its final height, a milestone reached in mid-September with the forming of a mechanical penthouse level atop the 33rd floor.

Work on enclosing the building has been ongoing since February when the first panels of brick cladding were applied to the podium's two-storey townhome elevations. Installation of townhome exterior finishes is now practically complete, as details further define the tower component above. At the time of our August update, a mix of window wall and precast finishes had been installed as high as the 21st floor. The latest photos show all but the last four residential levels now enclosed.

Meanwhile, the building's final exterior expression is beginning to materialize as the translucent balcony guardrails have been installed as high as the 15th floor, highlighting rounded edge balconies along the tower's Hurontario Street face, making the signature pattern formed by voids in the balcony rows appear more prominent in photos.

The 313,496 ft² development is set to welcome its first residents in 2021, and will introduce a total of 404 new condominium and townhome units to the north end of Mississauga's burgeoning core.
