The third and final tower of Brookfield Property Partners' Bay Adelaide Centre is making steady progress towards a final height of 32 storeys in Toronto's Financial District. Now rising above Temperance Street across from the complex's 51-storey, 2009-built West Tower and 44-storey, 2016-built East Tower, the final tower will be named Scotiabank North Tower at Bay Adelaide Centre in recognition of the banking giant's lease of 420,000 ft² of the 810,344 ft² tower.
Construction of the KPMB Architects and Adamson Associates Architects-designed tower has been ongoing since late 2018. When we last checked in on the project's status just over one month ago, structural steel installation reached as high as the 12th floor, having recently cleared a ninth floor step-back on the west side of the building, and moving on to the tower's smaller floor-plates above, averaging 26,000 ft² in area.
A few weeks later, steel assembly now reaches as high as the 17th floor, with the central concrete elevator core rising several levels higher at the centre of the tower floor-plate.
Another big change is the start of installation of the building's exterior envelope. Following the minimalist design cues established by the complex's existing pair of towers to the south, a reflective blue curtainwall glazing is now appearing on sections of the south podium elevation along Temperance Street.
The tower, which will top out 140 metres above Richmond Street in the coming months, is targeting LEED Platinum Core & Shell upon completion.
This final phase in the office complex is already largely leased out, with just four levels of available office space currently listed on Brookfield's page for the property.
