Another project is looking in the long-term revitalization of Toronto's Regent Park neighbourhood now has enough of its exterior complete, that passersby with a little imagination can envision the final product. Part of the third-phase cluster surrounding the Dundas and Sumach intersection, Daniels DuEast Condominiums' pair of Core Architects-designed buildings, rising 11 and 29 storeys, are shaping up to welcome their first residents in 2021.

The shorter mid-rise building to the east topped out late last year, while the 29-storey west tower reached its final height in early 2020. With both buildings structurally complete, work on their exterior finishes has ramped up in recent months, and the latest images show the two buildings appearing much closer to their pre-construction renderings compared to when we last checked in on the project back in July.

Among the most noticeable changes since our last update, the complex's podium is now being enclosed behind cladding, while a two-storey colonnade is being installed along its Dundas Street frontage. The colonnade is composed of white steel posts with a canopy above that will shelter the public realm. The stretch of the colonnade fronting the mid-rise building is now in place, as installation continues to the west.

Along the west side of the podium, landscaping is progressing around the future townhome entrances, while sheets taped to the townhomes' ground-floor windows detail the ongoing installation of interior finishes and fixtures.

The two buildings will introduce 437 condominium units to the regenerating area, which is being redeveloped using a mixed-income model integrating various socioeconomic demographics, woven together with a re-imagined street grid lined with retail spaces and public spaces.
