Work continues at the site of Tridel's Via Bloor, being built as part of the ongoing revitalization of Toronto's North St James Town neighbourhood. The two-tower condo development coming to Bloor and Parliament is now well under construction, bringing 38 and 46-storey architectsAlliance-designed towers to the wedge-shaped site. We last checked in on the project in January, when the complex had just begun to rise above street level.

In the two months since, forming has almost wrapped up for the four-storey podium from which the towers will rise, with work on the podium levels complete at the east end of the site. Obscured by floor forms and a scaffold, the photo above shows that work has moved beyond the fourth floor and on to the tower floors above. The rounded floor plates of the 46-storey east tower, to be revealed once the forms are removed, are cantilevered over the east edge of the podium, set to overhang a new wedge-shaped public space at the angled intersection of Bloor, Parliament, and Howard streets.

To the west, all but a small section of the fourth floor slab is in place below the future 38-storey west tower. Once the final podium level wraps up, the reduced floor plates of the towers will begin to take shape above. This tower will take on a more traditional rectilinear form than its rounded sibling to the east, with a complementary exterior expression.

At the far west end of the site, a standalone single-storey retail building is now taking shape. Set to contain about 340 m² of retail space, this building will be separated from the rest of the development by a private driveway providing vehicular access to the site from Bloor Street East. This building is just visible left of centre in the photo below.
