This week's Throwback Thursday takes us to King and Blue Jays Way in Downtown Toronto to compare a pair of views captured just shy of four years apart. Back in February, 2016, heritage retention work had begun on the six-storey Canadian Westinghouse Building on the intersection's southeast corner, preparing the building's north and west facades for incorporation into a new mixed-use development known as King Blue by Greenland. The 2016 view below shows ongoing window removals and a lattice of steel structural supports being installed to brace the facades before demolition of the structure behind.

Only a week shy of four years later, a late January, 2020 view reveals how the facades of the 1927-built building have been incorporated into the new IBI Group-designed complex. The restored facades are flanked by the complex's podium. The 44 and 48-storey condominium towers rise behind. The podium mirrors the height of the Westinghouse building, with dark brick finishes that frame the heritage details in a modern contextual spin.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto. In the meantime, you can submit your own Throwback Thursday comparisons in our dedicated Forum thread for your chance to be featured in next week's edition.
