This week's Throwback Thursday turns the clocks back five and a half years for a changing view of Toronto's King Street West and Joe Shuster Way intersection. Back in April, 2013, the early stages of work were unfolding on King High Line, a mixed-use project by First Capital and CAPREIT. The 2013 image below shows drilling rigs in action, working on the shoring system that was installed prior to the site's excavation phase.

Jumping ahead to October, 2019, and the same view facing northeast across King Street now includes the completed Kasian and TACT Architecture-designed complex which has introduced a mix commercial, retail, and residential space to the meeting point of the Liberty Village and King West neighbourhoods. Retailers have been opening in phases since the project's Fall 2019 completion, animating the wedge-shaped, rail corridor-abutting site.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto. In the meantime, you can submit your own Throwback Thursday comparisons in our dedicated Forum thread for your chance to be featured in next week's edition.
