Seven months after the Ontario Government passed the "Getting Ontario Moving Act," uploading rapid transit responsibilities from the City to the province, they are moving plans forward for the Ontario Line, a reimagined and lengthened version of the Relief Line the City and TTC had been planning. A renewed consultation and exploration process is being led by Metrolinx, along with additional work expanding the existing Environmental Assessment for the Relief Line. Now, the province is seeking public engagement in a series of upcoming open houses scheduled for later this month.
The open houses, where information about the line will be presented to the public;
• Thursday, January 23rd, running from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Ontario Science Centre at 770 Don Mills Road.
• Monday, January 27th running from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at Ryerson University's Tecumseh Auditorium at 55 Gould Street.
• Tuesday, January 28th, running from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Metropolitan Community Church at 115 Simpson Avenue.
• Wednesday, January 29th, running from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Beanfield Centre, Room 201 ABC at 105 Princes' Boulevard in Exhibition Place.
That same week, the City will be hosting a "research webinar" and a pair of public drop-in events for the Bloor West Bikeway Extension, which will extend the bikeway installed along Bloor Street from Avenue Road to Shaw Stree in 2016. The first of these events, the online research webinar, is planned for January 23rd from 1 to 2 PM, and can be accessed at this link.
On January 27th and 30th from 4 PM to 8 PM, members of the public will be able to drop in to these open houses to view information panels and discuss aspects of the project with the team behind it. The first of these events will take place on Monday, January 27th at St. Wenceslaus Church, loaded at 496 Gladstone Avenue. The second open house will take place on Thursday, January 30th at Lithuanian House, 1573 Bloor Street West.
