Beyond the growing cluster of tall towers in the immediate vicinity of Toronto's Yonge and Eglinton crossroads, several medium-scaled towers are being built in the surrounding blocks in an area-wide growth spurt. Just a few blocks southeast of the intersection at Lillian and Soudan, Lash Group Of CompaniesDistinction Condos is rapidly closing in on its final height of 19 storeys.

The project's name is drawn from its unconventional design by Giannone Petricone Associates, which is now quite apparent as the tower's final residential level takes shape. A spin on the traditional rectilinear condo tower massing, the project's shifting floorplate arrangement gives the effect of a carved away north facade. This effect has been gradually revealed over the last few months, and with the tower now close to its final height, is best viewed from the southeast and southwest.

Cladding installation has also begun recently with the first sections of cladding in the form of a window wall cladding with reflective glazing and grey spandrel framed in dark mullions. Now reaching as high as the eighth floor, the window wall will eventually be hidden behind balcony guards which will determine the primary exterior expression. The guards will feature an angular pattern made up of perforated metal screens with bone white finishes and laminated clear glazing: our database file includes renderings of the design.

Beyond just a few panels of glazing to have risen so far, the podium exterior is still largely unfinished. The bare concrete slabs here will eventually be clad in a dark brick finish, accented by sections of fritted glazing and metal panels.

Upon completion, the building will add 160 more condominium units to the neighbourhood.
