Graywood Developments recently kicked off construction of their Scout Condos development, a 12-storey, CMV Group architects-designed condominium on St Clair Avenue West a block from its intersection with Weston Road in Toronto's Carleton Village neighbourhood. The development will rise at St Clair and Osler Street, opposite Graywood's SCOOP Condos, now most of its way through construction.

The first signs of activity came back in the Fall, when shoring and demolition permits were applied for. The recent ground breaking ceremony followed shortly after crews began to demolish the former single-storey car dealership on site, later repurposed as a condo sales centre. Graywood's fourth construction launch of the year took place on the already active site, as excavators paused their demolition activities to allow remarks from the project team.

“Cities like Toronto develop in pockets, and this stretch of St Clair from Old Weston Road to Caledonia was primed for smart, community-oriented developments,” reads a statement from Stephen Price, President and CEO of Graywood Developments. “With SCOOP — and now SCOUT — we introduced a new form to the area, inviting purchasers to come see the changes taking place. We were thrilled with the reception.”

“When Graywood launched SCOOP Condos in the summer of 2017, it was the first new condominium project to hit this stretch of St Clair West. Today, we’ve seen that a number of developers have followed our lead,” reads a statement from Adidharma Purnomo, Vice-President Development at Graywood Developments. “SCOUT is poised to be a new landmark in the area. There’s a lot of optimism around this community and we believe there’s a lot of room for more smart, contextual developments to take place.”

The start of construction has resulted in the closure of the project's on-site presentation centre, which will soon be temporarily replaced within a ground-level retail unit in neighbouring Scoop Condos. Once Scout wraps up construction, it will add another 269 condominium units to the block.
