Toronto’s Liberty Village neighbourhood is transforming from its industrial past to become a thriving mixed-use community that grows denser every year. Many of the developments—past and present—in this neck of the woods incorporate restored brick and beam buildings from the area's past in with new builds, and that's the case at Kevric's project at 99 Atlantic Avenue.

Designed by WZMH Architects, the new 8-storey office building is being built adjacent to an existing 5-storey post-industrial building, (seen above at right), which is being restored, its heritage work overseen by ERA Architects. The new building has been under construction since early 2018, and is now topped out at a final height of 40.75 metres as exterior finishes enclose the structure.

At the time of our last update back at the start of October, installation of brick-embedded precast concrete panels rose up to the third floor. The panels now stretch to just shy of the building’s roofline, and have since been joined by reflective blue-tinted curtainwall glazing divided by slender mullions, giving a modern touch to the heritage-inspired exterior finish program.

Once construction wraps up in 2020, the 140,000 ft² building—which is targeting LEED Silver Certification—will offer features that include a rooftop terrace for office tenants.
