The final building has been topped off at Tridel and Dorsay's Atria Condos complex on Sheppard Avenue East near Victoria Park Avenue in northeast Toronto. The block is already home to the completed 43-storey Alto, the 8-storey Parkside, and the most recently completed 26-storey Trio, while construction is moving into the interior finishings of the site's fourth Turner Fleischer Architects-designed building, a 19-storey tower called Parfait.
The project topped out at its final height back in August, and work on the building recently crossed yet another important construction milestone in late October, when the tower crane used during the building's forming was disassembled and removed from the site. This milestone follows the completion of concrete forming and the hoisting of heavy equipment and materials such as window panels and precast concrete slabs.
Preparation for the crane removal began on Wednesday, October 16th with the introduction of a mobile hydraulic crane. This crane has since been used to remove sections of the building's tower crane, which are unbolted one section at a time before being carefully lowered to waiting flatbed trucks at street level. The first section of crane to come down was the operator's cab, followed by the boom and eventually the mast section.
An aerial view recently captured on the project's webcam shows that the final sections of the crane have since been removed. Meanwhile, the final elements of the project's exterior envelope are coming together. Window wall cladding with glazing and spandrel panels framed in aluminum mullions now stretch to just shy of the tower’s mechanical penthouse.
