This week's Throwback Thursday highlights the changing view of Toronto from the George Brown College Waterfront Campus' Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Building near Queens Quay and Sherbourne. Back in April 2016, the view north from the building showed a handful of projects under construction, including from left to right, Velocity at the Square, Karma Condos, U Condominiums, FIVE St. Joseph, and One Bloor East.
Just shy of three years later, and all the buildings in the image above have wrapped up construction, and some have already been obscured from view by newer development. To the right of the completed Karma, the largely-complete YC Condos and the rising Wellesley on the Park have obscured U Condos from view, while FIVE St. Joseph has been mostly covered up by Ryerson's Daphne Cockwell Complex and Core Condos. Just below and to the right of One Bloor East, the completed Alter condo tower has joined the landscape. Just to the right of Alter, the complete Ryerson Jarvis Residence can be seen to the south of Pace Condos, while the topped-out 411 Church is visible behind. Near the far righthand side of the photo, the newly-completed Grid Condos adds a distinctive presence to the skyline.
This city is growing up quickly!
We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto.
