Work on Toronto's largest construction site continues to progress at the northwest corner of Front and Spadina, with recent photos revealing a construction milestone for the huge seven-building project known as The Well. The project from Diamond Corp, Allied Properties REIT, Rio Can REIT, Tridel, and Woodbourne is bringing a mix of retail, residential, office, and public space to the area, with work currently furthest along on the site's office tower.
Right at the corner of Front and Spadina, The Well's 36-storey, Hariri Pontarini Architects-designed office tower was the first building that crews began to form following the installation of the site's first tower crane back in April 2018. Forming of the building's underground levels continued through 2018, and by last November, the final underground level was being formed. Now at the beginning of March, 2019, forming is well underway for the tower's ground level.
Once completed in 2022, the tower will introduce just under 1,000,000 ft² of rentable office space to the area, with advertising and technology firm Index Exchange set to lease up to 200,000 ft². In addition to the office tower, an additional 125,000 ft² of office space will be available to lease in other parts of the complex. Leasing of Te Well's office space is being handled by Allied REIT.
To the west of the office tower, forming continues on the residential buildings’ underground levels, with six additional cranes marking the locations of the future condominium and rental towers. With Tridel gearing up for the marketing of the complex's condominium components, a new project website has been launched, featuring a live aerial webcam view of the site.
