The sounds of shoppers and employees of North York's Newtonbrook Plaza has been replaced by the sounds of demolition as work begins on Yonge Street at Cummer Avenue on M2M Condos. Part of the former plaza is not currently coming down as it has become the redevelopment's presentation centre.
The first phase of the Wallman Architects-designed community by Aoyuan International will consist of 34 and 36-storey condominium towers rising from a shared podium. After a rush of sales for the first phase's north tower, the M2M presentation centre is now gearing up for the public launch of the south tower, known as T1 at M2M. The presentation centre hosted a friends and family pre-launch event last week, and we had the chance to take a look at the various displays and models that help purchasers immerse themselves in the project's details.
The space sets itself apart from other condominium presentation centres with a scale model of an entire tower floorplate. Like a modern dollhouse at 1:25 scale, and measuring 48” x 80”, 11 suites are depicted fully furnished.
These mini model suites show a range of design options and feature functional miniature flat-screen televisions as well as lighting. Clear acrylic walls surround the model, giving viewers a look at all the interior details.
A spacious full-size, three-bedroom model suite offers a glimpse into life on one of the tower's upper floors, including full balconies with an accurate drone-captured representation of the surrounding North York cityscape.
The model suite includes some rarely seen features. In the kitchen, pull-out counters provide additional prep space. Between an interior bedroom and the living area, electrochromic glass can be switched on or off, providing either clear glass or frosted for privacy. It's being marketed as M2M Switchable Smart Glass for select suites. There's much more to see in the model suite, and we'll be delving deeper with more photos in the coming weeks.
Visitors will also find the features common to most condominium presentation centres, including a centrepiece scale model of the building, kitchen and bathroom suite vignettes, and display boards showing off a variety of finish packages that will be available to purchasers.
