This week's 'Explainer' tackles the topic of greywater, or sullage, which refers to most of the wastewater generated by all of us over the course of a normal day. While the generation of greywater is an inevitability, the way it's managed by us can have a huge impact on our ability to live sustainably, potentially playing a major role in combating the global water crisis. So how can buildings handle greywater in a sustainable way? Our sister site, SkyriseCities, provides an overview:

People in developed countries use a substantial amount of water. According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average American family of four uses over 1,500 litres of water every day. Most of that usage can be traced back to the bathroom, where water-intensive toilets, showers, and sinks are located.
