It has been three and a half years since the very last of the shabby motels on Etobicoke's waterfront bit the dust, and the high-density Humber Bay Shores area that has replaced them over the last dozen years or more has never been livelier. The neighbourhood—a term that simply wouldn't have fit the area 20 years priorcontinues to put down roots in the form of concrete foundations, with taller and taller condominium towers growing above them to reshape its burgeoning skyline.

This growth is primed to continue, with another high-rise development soon to launch in the area. Following on the succesful model of nearby Lago at the Waterfront and Riva del LagoMattamy Homes and Biddington Homes are now promoting Vita on the Lake, a 53-storey condominium tower coming to 2161 Lake Shore Blvd. West near Park Lawn Road.

Designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, the project includes a five-storey base broken up into multiple volumes, framed by ground-level landscaping designed by gh3. Above the podium, the vertically-extruded tower uses dark-tinted glazing and white underpainting on the wraparound balconies to create a simple, elegant structure.

Interior design for the project has been tasked to U31, who will appoint common spaces including a two-storey lobby, a pool, fitness centre, party room, bar, dining room and indoor lounges. Vita's suites will range in size from 525 to 1,545 square feet and will start from the high-$200,000s. Units will feature ergonomically-designed kitchens, bathrooms with spa-inspired features, large windows, and balconies overlooking leafy green Etobicoke, the sparkling blues of Humber Bay and Lake Ontario, and the twinkling lights of the Toronto skyline.
