With work underway on the final levels of Mattamy Homes and the Biddington Group's 49-storey Lago at the Waterfront and 16-storey Riva del Lago, the close-to-final silhouettes of the two Graziani + Corazza Architects-designed condominium developments are now apparent on Etobicoke's Humber Bay Shores skyline.
Lago at the Waterfront will remain the tallest building on the Humber Bay Shores skyline for over a year, until eventually being surpassed in height by Empire Communities' 66-storey Eau du Soleil sometime in 2017. Though it will only hold the crown of Humber Bay's tallest for a brief period, the tower will remain a distinctive feature on the area's emerging skyline, which has grown from just a few buildings into a high-density cluster in just a decade.
Cladding now seals off the lower two thirds of the 49-storey tower, adding to its main design feature of shifting four-storey volumes of black and white glazing and balcony underpainting. In the coming weeks, we can expect to see the first signs of the tower's mechanical penthouse take shape.
Next door and closer to the water, concrete is currently being poured for the 16th storey of Riva del Lago, which will contain both residential units and mechanical spaces servicing the structure. In the weeks since our last update, cladding installation for the building has begun, and the brick panels appear to be of a similar high quality as those installed on Lago.
Together, the two developments will add over 800 new condominium units to rapidly expanding Humber Bay Shores community once completed in the coming months.
