It has been approximately two months since Tridel's Avani topped off near Highway 401 and Kennedy Road in Scarborough. The 35-storey Graziani + Corazza Architects-designed condominium tower is the latest addition to the Metrogate master-planned community, following in the footsteps of neighbouring condo towers Ventus at MetrogateSolaris at Metrogate, and multiple townhouse blocks.

In the time since our last update—a drone-captured aerial view of the community—cladding installation has progressed up the tower, sealing off all but the final level of the building.

Avani is being skinned in a window wall cladding with clear vision glass and grey spandrel, framed in silver mullions. The upcoming installation of balcony glazing, depicted in renderings as a translucent white frit, will finalize the aesthetic of the building's exterior.

At ground level, cladding of the building's main entrance and surrounding podium space is nearing completion. A number of different materials are being used to clad the podium, including clear and reflective glazing, precast concrete and charcoal-toned brick.

Residents of the completed development and its pre-construction follow-up phase, Avani2, will have access to a large amenity space in the complex's shared podium, called 'Club Avani'. Club Avani will offer a fitness centre, a Yoga studio, steam rooms, a fireplace lounge, a private dining room with a prep kitchen, a billiards lounge, a theatre, and a large party room a bar area. The future podium connection between the two structures can be seen in the image below, temporarily sealed off with knockout walls where the second phase will attach.
