We have tracked the construction of Cityzen and Fernbrook Homes' Waterlink at Pier 27 since excavation work commenced for the development back in 2010. Ever since, we have watched the rise of the four architectsAlliance-designed 11-storey buildings, joined in pairs by two three-storey skybridges, and now we are returning once again for another look as workers apply finishing touches to the exteriors of the development.
Residents have been moving into Waterlink's east pair of buildings since mid-2014, while the west pair are rapidly approaching completion. Since our last update in December, exterior cladding work has been substantially completed, and there are just a few finishing touches left before the job is complete. At the lower right of the image below, a worker on an elevated work platform applies studding to a canopy on the north side of the development's westernmost tower.
Other elements in the building's design took shape over the past year, including the distinctive diagrid pattern which was applied to the windows and underside of the development's twin skybridges. Inside of these bridges, work continues on the future residential units that will occupy these signature spaces within the development. A look into the windows show ceilings are still to be finished.
There is still much left to do around the south side of the site, including work on the extended Waterfront Promenade, as well as the landscaped private areas between the towers connecting the water and Queens Quay.
Landscaping work, which includes planters, stone-paved walkways, and a variety of trees, is complete on the north side of the east buildings where they meet Queens Quay.
