In today's Throwback Thursday, we are comparing the southwest-facing view from Bay and Front between 2009 and 2015 where the construction of several office and condominium towers and the revitalization of Union Station have transformed the area over this short timeframe. Back in April 2009, the finishing touches were being applied to the 30-storey Telus House at 25 York Street, while the Maple Leaf Square condominium towers were on the rise behind it.

Returning to the scene today, much has changed. Telus House and the two towers of Maple Leaf Square have long since been completed, while a handful of new developments have been added to the landscape. Situated in the South Core cluster in the centre of the image below, we can see one of the completed towers of Ïce Condos, the two office towers of the Southcore Financial Centre, as well as the Delta Toronto. In the foreground we can see the limestone façade of the historic Beaux-Arts style main Union Station building mid-restoration.

We will return next week with another look at the changing face of Toronto!
