Designed by the late Canadian architect Arthur Erickson, the TTC's Yorkdale Station on Line 1 (Yonge-University-Spadina) is a striking example of Erickson's unique style of Modernist architecture. The station opened in January 1978, at that time featuring a an art installation on the station's glass roof by Michael Hayden called Arc en ciel, or "Rainbow" in French, before water leakage led to the removal of the installation during the mid-1990s. In today's Photo of the Day, which was submitted to the UrbanToronto Flickr Pool by Jason Cook, the sun illuminates the top of the station's glass and metal canopy with warm hues.
