Completed in 1931, the Canada Life Building is a well-known landmark on University Avenue, just north of Queen Street. The building's most recognizable feature, the illuminated weather beacon, was added to the structure in the early 1950s - long before weather apps and round-the-clock forecasts on televeision - to alert Torontonians to changing weather conditions. In today's Photo of the Day, which was submitted to the UrbanToronto Flickr Pool by Matt M S, we are given a view of the weather beacon as seen from the City Hall observation deck during Doors Open 2014 this past May.
