A crane is now in place at the construction site for Exhibition Place's first hotel, Hotel X. To be operated by the Library Hotel Collection of New York City, the hotel will be sited directly south of the Direct Energy Centre and west of the Allstream Centre.

The hotel is meant to boost the attractiveness of hosting events in Exhibition Place's halls across the street by adding accommodations onsite along with many new facilities for the grounds, including three cinemas, a sports club with indoor tennis and squash courts, retail units, and a rooftop bar on the 27th floor of the tower.

The project is designed by the Stephen B Jacobs Group of New York and NORR Architects of Toronto and is being built by Brookfield Multiplex. The design has been criticized for resembling a bloated version of the Simpson's Tower in downtown Toronto, and replaces a design by architect Rocco Maragna. It is set to open in 2015.
