The revitalization of Regent Park by The Daniels Corporation continues to progress with construction of the second Hariri Pontarini Architects-designed tower at One Park Place well underway. Already 11 storeys high, marketing of the 24-storey condominium began only relatively recently, a selling strategy that differentiates Daniels from most other developers in the city who tend to start construction only after a large percentage of units are sold.

Daniels' ability to move ahead sooner means that purchasers know from day one that the project will be built, and that it will happen within a reasonable amount of time. The typical Daniels condominium purchaser does not have too long a wait for their move-in date to arrive.

Among many distinguishing features of the One Park Place project is the focus on sustainability. The cost of heating and cooling One Park Place condos will be noticeably less than the average Toronto condo from over the last several years. Unlike the floor to ceiling glass that dominates most new condominium developments in Toronto, the cladding of these towers employs an energy efficient mix of glass and aluminum designed to achieve LEED Gold certification. The resulting façade not only looks different than those of other residential developments, but it also demonstrates Daniels' commitment to high environmental standards.

The project will also set itself apart with features that reflect the Daniels Corporation's long term dedication to community building. While the project includes a full slate of amenities that the residents will be able to enjoy on a regular basis, one of the more unique amenities will be an onsite half court basketball gym; a similar basketball court at Daniels' Limelight project in Mississauga has been extremely popular with residents there. The upcoming basketball court here currently appears as the blank spot in the podium, pictured below.

Another progressive amenity, the dedicated gardening plots on the podium roof, plus neighbourhood facilities like the Daniels Spectrum arts centre, Paintbox Bistro, and the recent Regent Park Farmers Market pilot project, all contribute to make One Park Place more than just a simple condominium development: the emphasis here is on building a fully-fledged community.

Regent Park's transformation is coming at a faster pace and with more success that anyone would have predicted a half dozen years ago. Projects like One Park Place demonstrate why. We will be back to check in on further progress, but if you want to know more now, please drop in on our dataBase file for the project, linked below. It has all the renderings and information on the project you'll want to see. Want to get in on the discussion on One Park Place?
