Last week we introduced a new weekly feature that highlights individual photographers from our large body of Forum contributors. This week UT Forum member ‘MafaldaBoy’ is our honouree, a guy who has been receiving due praise on the Forum as of late for his high-quality and moody construction photography.
While MafaldaBoy has been contributing snapshots and information to the Forum since joining in late-2010, his recent acquisition of a Nikon D5100 digital SLR camera has provided the aspiring photographer with a valuable tool in furthering his already prolific skills, and the resulting photos have proven to be dramatic conversation starters.
Residing just outside of Toronto in the historic village of Unionville, MafaldaBoy documents construction projects all across the far reaches of the GTA, feeding vital information and photos into the Forum from locations like Markham, Mississauga and Vaughan, as well as the downtown projects we just can’t get enough of.
It may come as a surprise to some, but MafaldaBoy, better known as Jimmy Wu, is just 16-years old, and currently starting off Grade 12. While he is immensely talented in the field of photography, Jimmy aspires to explore a career in either urban planning or architecture - and judging by his involvement in the Forum and his impeccable sense of aesthetic, this guy is going places!
With quite the eye for composition and an apparent knack for post-processing techniques, Jimmy has brought us too many great photos to fit into a single article, so tomorrow one of our project update pieces will heavily feature Jimmy's photos, but if you would like to see more of his work now, head on over to the Forum and keep your eyes peeled, or alternatively, check out his Flickr account, linked here.
We will return next week to feature another photographer from our Forum. Think you've got what it takes? Grab a camera or mobile device and get to work, then post your content in the Forum, and you just may find yourself featured in next week’s article!
