With the year’s first heat wave upon us, summer is clearly around the corner. As the mercury has steadily risen over the past several weeks, so have the various construction projects throughout the GTA, capitalizing on both warmer weather and longer daylight hours resulting in a dramatic increase in productivity. When we last reported on NY2 Condos by The Daniels Corporation, it was mid-March and as the ground was thawing, the first truckloads of concrete were being poured for the 7-storey building’s foundations. Fast forwarding to today, the Core Architects-designed condominium has emerged from its 2-storey-deep pit and is now above ground level on Sheppard Avenue just east of Bayview in North York.

Now this is the part where we usually stress how complicated foundations and underground floors are to construct compared to normal above ground floors, but in this rare instance, no justification is needed. The unprecedented speed at which NY2 has progressed since our last visit can be best represented through photos. Taking inspiration from our 'Then and Now' section, here is a comparison, albeit from a different angle, of the NY2 site on March 11th and May 30th of 2013.

In just 80 days, the newest building in Daniels’ NY Towers community has gone from being a pit in the ground to a mid-rise condominium taking shape. For a closer look at the project's recent progress, we offer the images below!

Once completed in summer of 2014, the building will contain 140 residential units divided between condominiums, rental, and Daniels’ unique rent-to-own units.

We will be sure to check back on NY2 Condos as the project continues to take shape.  In the meantime, please visit the associated dataBase page, linked below, for additional information and renderings.  Want to get involved in the discussion?
