It is less often we cover new developments east of the DVP—for a long time the sleepy neighbourhoods of the east side remained untouched by Toronto's ever growing condo boom—but these past few years are starting to tell a different story, with recent projects like The Carlaw and The WorkLofts+Flatiron Lofts in the Film District reshaping these areas.

Just to the south of those two is another mid-rise residential property currently under construction, namely Showcase Lofts. Rising at Colgate and Carlaw, Showcase will grow to 7 storeys in a neighbourhood traditionally dominated by warehouses and low-rise residences. We have recent pictures of the site courtesy of UT Fourm member anonymous0024.

Under development by Aragon Properties, Showcase Lofts is deisgned by Fleiss, Gates and McGowan Easton Architects and will bring 230 loft style condo units to the neighbourhood ranging in size from 427 Sqft to 1,090 Sqft. Perspective buyers at Showcase can expect to spend between $244,900 and $544,900. An estimated $0.45 per sq ft maintenance fee is foreseen.

Above we can see from our vantage point across Carlaw Avenue that construction on the east side of the building has just reached the third floor.

The southwest corner of the building is not as far along. In behind we can see a few of the recent condo additions to the stretch rising behind the site.
