A lush and sandy archipelago, the Toronto Islands seem a world away from the dense urban environment just off its western shore. Still home to a bucolic residential community, the Islands are the largest car-free community in North America and offer visitors an opportunity to escape the city without ever having to leave its borders. Not only do the Islands offer a retreat from Toronto's heat and congestion, but they provide a perfect vantage point to view our skyline; a fact beautifully demonstrated by the photo below.
