It has been a few months since we last featured Absolute World on our front page, so is it time to catch up? Yes, and no. It turns out that the reason that we have not been featuring Marilyn and her sister much lately is that not much has occured on the exterior of the buildings in that time. This is a shot taken September 15th, 2001 by UrbanToronto member Jasonzed:

It shows that not too much has happened on the fifth tower since this photo was take by Jasonzed on July 21, 2011:

At that time, the glazing of the balconies was still being sorted out. Towers four and five have always had different treatments on their exteriors in the renderings, and the slow application of balcony glass to the fifth building is an indicator that final decisions were ongoing when these test pieces were put up in the summer. It does seem to be full steam ahead now however.

This September 15th Jasonzed photo which shows a lot of progress at ground level also shows a lack of progress on the podium detailing. Compare this with the rendering below it:

We are still hopeful that the frames will be coming to Absolute World's podium. The building does remain a construction site of course, but we do tend to get a bit impatient at times, and we are always wary of The Cheapening™, fearful that features we love have been cut to save costs. We really want to see this treatment applied to the podium as it simply looks very cool. We will keep our eyes peeled.

Here's one more shot to round out this quick look, a futher reminder of how delicious these buildings are.
