X2, the second phase of the X Condominiums development at Jarvis and Charles streets in Downtown Toronto is well underway as excavation has cleared the site down to the first level below grade. The 49-storey tower by Lifetime Developments and Great Gulf Homes follows closely on the heels of the very successful 44-floor first phase directly across Charles Street to the north. Let's take a look at the progress.

There is much, much more to be done before the construction site above looks like the finished building, rendered here below. The modernist X2 Condominiums, with a 49-storey tower and an 8-storey podium, is designed by Wallman Architects as a residential homage to Mies van der Rohe's Toronto Dominion Centre.
