When Charles Khabouth, Toronto's king of clubland, and Mel Pearl, star player in Toronto's real estate development industry, sat down together to create a hotel and condominium that would go well beyond the everyday, it was not certain that Bisha, their mould-breaking offering, would be a runaway success.
Despite the growing successes of both INK Entertainment and Lifetime Developments, the pair were not planning to sell another mere condo tower; even within Toronto's increasingly sophisticated condo market, Bisha would be considered daring. Outside, architect Rudy Wallman was asked for his signature blend of disciplined modernism, pleasing proportion, and striking detail, while inside, designer Alessandro Munge was told to pull out all of the stops for an over-the-top luxe experience. Montana Steele Advertising was asked to convey the message in a campaign with unprecedented sex appeal and élan. It all begged this question: could Toronto's famously conservative real estate buyers be tempted at this time to opt for opulence?
When Bisha premiered with a stunningly lavish presentation centre onsite at Blue Jays Way and Mercer Street in Toronto's Entertainment District, we hoped that the skeptics would be proven wrong, and it turns out they have been: Bisha has worked like a charm. The 41-storey tower is now over 80 percent sold, and the working drawings that augur construction are well underway.
