UrbanToronto member gis_guy recently returned to the site of Nautilus, the latest phase at the Monarch Group's Waterview project in Etobicoke's Humber Bay Shores area. The 39-storey tower, designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, now rises to its 22nd and 23rd floors.

Nautilus's skyline presence will be defined by the teardrop-shaped wave cut into the building's balconies. The rendering of the project indicates that green glazing will clad the balconies inside the teardrop, while blue will predominate on the rest of the tower.

The first of the balcony glass can be seen below meawhile, but here it appears that the blue and green tints may have been reversed with the blue side now on the land side, and the green closer to the lake. The camera's acute angle and distance from the glass does not yet allow, however, for a definitive statement in that regard.

The building's spandrel panels meanwhile present a gray tint, not unlike a certain Blu building in Toronto's uptown core. Conversely though, Nautilus's gray spandrels may simply work as a neutral background for its coloured balcony glazing to play off of.

Glazing is now being applied to the top two storeys of the podium as well, but not the street level floors yet.

Finally, we now have a view of the corresponding wave on the east wall of the tower, which will face towards the city's core. As the only rendering of Nautilus pictured the west facade, it was not initially confirmed on UrbanToronto that the east facade would have a similar treatment.
