A rezoning a application has been submitted to the city to construct a new 9-storey office tower at 1-9 Sultan Street. Bay and Gable Victorians currently occupy the site which is a block south of Bloor and St. Thomas. The office tower will also contain 70 parking spots on three below grade levels. This is the proposed location.

While we like the idea of increasing density in this part of the city we feel it would be a shame to lose this quaint half block. Perhaps the developer can look to Hazelton Lanes as a model and integrate the new tower into the back of these houses. Either way there are certainly going to be residents at One St Thomas that will not be very happy about this. We'll report further in the future when we we find out who the developer is and when we obtain renders.
